A week later and we have finished
building and wiring the trackwork on the new
Branch fiddle yard. A removeable cover has been made to give a
tunnel effect
through the hole in the backscene where the branch goes through.
Gary is watching
the first train to travel over the branch, seven Mk1 coaches and
a Standard Class
3 Prairie tank loco.
The new fiddle yard for the branch. The gaps in the
sleepers are joins
in the pieces of track, the rail ends are soldered to copper clad
sleepers
to minimise miss-alignment at the rail ends.
All the points on the fiddle yard hand operated by DPDT slide
switches.
The seven coach train fills the longest siding in the
fiddle yard.
The branch fiddle yard, complete with the
boxed in section.
This will eventually be painted black.
The seven coach special with the Standard tank head off down the
branch towards Gunnispond.
Some of the post & wire fencing was
removed and hedges put in its place to
match in better with the adjoining boards. The redundant posts
are lying in the grass.
The hedges are made from coconut 'hair' and will have various
green scatter
material added.
While putting the layout boards away, I took the oppertunty to
take an 'aerial' view of the new board.
The fields on the right still need a top covering of 'grass'
scatter.
