During the previous week, the new
fiddle yard has been finished
and the backscenes have had Peco backscene papers pasted on.
As you can see, the backscenes give the impression of
distance and stop one's
eye drifting off the back of the baseboard. The basic scenery is
taking shape,
the hedges are now green and the fence posts are gradually being
painted.
All that is needed now, are some animals in the fields,
and a train!
By the end of this sesion, about 70% of the fencing had had the
'wire'(actually cotton)
added.
Some of Gary's wiring. The circuit board dangling on the
wires controls
the interlocking for the junction. A combination of the switches
on the
point motors and miniature relays are used to switch sections and
the route.
Another under board shot, this time it is the group of motors
operating the Junction bracket signal controlling access to the
branch.
The jig in use for the fence 'wires'.
Five lengths of brown cotton thread, long
enough for the fence run are threaded through five holes in the
jig. The jig
keeps all the wires at the same distance appart. The five threads
are tied on to
the first post and secured with a drop of glue. We use Evo-Stick
contact adhesive.
Then, depending on the lay of the land and the route of the
fence, the jig is pulled
back past three or four posts and the threads pulled taught. Glue
is applied to
the post (glue could be applied before the threads are pulled
into place) and then
wait a minute or two for the glue to take hold, then move on to
the next few and repeat!
A prairie leaving the branch, bunker
first.
(I know, the lamp is on the wrong end!)
A Standard 2-6-2 waits for the road on it's way to Westford.
The private access road
to the signal box with the newly completed post and
wire fencing. Eventually, the telegraph posts will have 'wires'
added.
(Cotton thread again)
