Oh, what a muddle! Gary building the branch pointwork.
Some sections of track have been laid and some ballasting has
been done.
The new board has been joined to the existing board to get the
end levels
and track positions transfered. A plan (not to scale) can be
found here: New plan
Double track main line on the left, branch on the right.
New point under construction,
we build our points in situe, we then know everything is lined
up.
The track is glued down with Evo-Stick contact adhesive, and then
the rail sides
are painted a rust colour.
This is the site of the double junction.
A small under bridge is destined for the gap between
the timber framework.
The crossing 'timbers' are in place, these are copper clad
paxolin.
Pointwork is of soldered construction. The white 'dust' in the
point at the top
of this picture is from the insulation gaps made in the copper.
Ballasting has progressed along the main line.
This is the small road bridge
The track is now complete!
The ballast in the forground has only just been laid and is, as
yet, un glued.

Fenton (well, his hand, any way) using a
paint brush to spread the loose ballast between the sleepers.
Ballasting is complete, just need to glue it down!
The underbridge abutments are taking shape, embossed brick and
plain Plasticard.

Time to glue the ballast down. A mix of PVA and water (50/50)
with a drop
of washing up liquid (a 'Wetting agent'. makes the mix soak in to
the ballast quicker)
A large syringe is being used as a dropper, a thunb on the top
gives some control
over how much glue gets out!
A light sprinkling of snow? No, just the glue! It will soak in a
little more yet, and
will dry clear.
